What Is a Virtual Terminal?
Accept payments without a website or card reader by keying transactions through a secure browser portal.
A virtual terminal turns any web browser into a secure point of sale. Instead of a physical card machine or a checkout page on your site, you key the transaction details directly into a protected portal.
When a virtual terminal helps
- Phone and email orders where the customer reads out their details.
- Invoicing clients who prefer to pay by card over the counter.
- Businesses that do not yet have a live website or checkout.
How it works
You log in, enter the amount and payment details, and submit. The gateway authorises the charge and records it alongside your other transactions. Everything runs over an encrypted connection, and no card data is stored on your own systems.
Pairing it with your gateway
A virtual terminal is a feature of your payment gateway rather than a separate product. Once your gateway is live, we can enable terminal access so you can take payments from day one — settled, like all our flows, over ACH.
